— TO MY FRIENDS —
To all of our fellow members in Great Kyushu,*
whose spirits are burning with the shared vow of mentor and disciple,
be the proud and dignified forerunners roaring like lion kings!
Let triumphant shouts ring out throughout the Land of Fire!

*Kyushu is the southernmost of the four main islands of Japan. It is well known
for its numerous active volcanoes and is called the “Land of Fire”.

— DAILY GOSHO —
“I entrust you with the propagation of Buddhism in your province. It is stated that ‘the seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions, and for this reason they preach the single vehicle.'”

—- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT —-
“In March, the month when we reaffirm our vow as successors of kosen-rufu, my mentor Josei Toda’s impassioned call to us to never let up in our efforts for truth and justice resounds in my heart.

“Actively seeking out challenges and triumphing over them is the spirit of youth; it is the badge of honour of true successors of our movement.

“None are stronger than those who, even amid the fiercest storms of adversity, base their actions on chanting daimoku first. They will be able to win through without fail.

“Even when Nichiren Daishonin faced life-threatening persecution as an exile on Sado Island, he declared: ‘I feel immeasurable delight’ (WND-1, 386).

“When difficulties arise because of our efforts for truth and justice, we can be assured that it is the time for kosen-rufu. Mr. Toda rejoiced at the prospect of the appearance of great obstacles, asserting: ‘I’ll be delighted, and I hope all of you will be happy as well. When that time comes, let’s fight bravely!’”
